Ideas are Expensive

I have always been calling myself as a frustrated litterateur. Since then, I have grown this interest in writing. It was my English instructor in high school who told me that I can write. I guess I'm not just really lost inside myself; I was just undiscovered. Haha! It has just proven too that I ain't that helpless. Today, I am one of the staff of our official school paper, recently assigned as the literary editor. Well, at least I'm now exposed into larger parameter rather than being alone in my room with my pen and notebook. It used to be that I hate responsibilities before, but now? I guess I'm starting to fall in love with it. Think positive. God speed!

The Nation Wants an Explanation

I woke up in this world with a pro-life and pro-democracy perception. I am young and I know my mind isn’t yet poisoned with such matters. But what I can see that today is totally different from yesterday; there are changes in values and alterations in norms. Sadly, every one of us became the witness of our very own tragedy: the inevitable downfall of Philippines , not just its economy but the integrity as well as a nation. Where will I start, from 1900’s? But the most recent would be much better I guess, from ZTE Deal issue to sudden rice and oil price hike and then now is the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) between the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) and Government of Republic of the Philippines (GRP). How will you react to such hidden conspiracy? Are you going to act like a sheep sold to the slaughter? Aren’t you going to fight for your right? Would you allow them to run our lives? I’ve been hearing the word "sold" from the people around me to the radio, television and even in the cyber world. Reviews have been posted regarding the MOA whether they’re pro or anti. Newspapers here and there. Public ideas were expressed! No more hidden conspiracy, silence has broken. The supposed surprising MOA signing scheduled to be signed in Kuala Lumpur gave us a pause. It made us realize our worth as a citizen, to take action against unfavorable moves. The rallies and public meeting that had happened mirrored the real public opinion which was deprived to be heard but luckily we still have some living heroes who are with us. Thank you so much to the negative force being exerted to the said proposal. Alas! I can still say we aren’t yet sold! But why is this happening? Why is the present administration in a hurry to authorize the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) on Ancestral Domain with the pro-autonomy Moro Islamic Liberation Front? Do they really think that signing the intriguing Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) is the last resort to solve the impending peace in Mindanao ? It has been nine years that the present administration has been governing the nation but still the whopping issue in Mindanao is not yet deciphered. The lost virtue, peace is still lost. With this insistence, if God’s will then Arroyo can now have the legacy, the agreement itself really is the reward. How are they going to do this? An agenda is composed of options; it could be from plans A-Z. If the prioritized one would fail, of course, the next one would follow. If the present administration would fall short to instigate the deal, then the separatists would now find a valid reason to affirm autonomy. The process would be so difficult for the people of the Philippines for it will necessitate a plebiscite and a shift of constitution to federal system a.k.a Cha-cha. But are we going to make it happen? It really makes me want to laugh out loud. I don’t know how to call this event but correct me if I’m wrong, politicking, right? I hate to think that people in Mindanao will be threatened again with chaos. I know for sure that we aren’t yet at the peak of the peace process. The ceasefire is being implemented, but would it really last forever? USAID said that we should support the ceasefire since it has been the single greatest success of the peace process, but it remains fragile. True that! But what can I say? How can we support this truly if some of us are still stuffing small slices of cake into the mouth of thugs? How worst could this issue get? There may be a good justification for this mysterious grant but how can we understand and appreciate it when we don’t see it. The nation hungers for an explanation so don’t sign the MOA yet.

Computer Tricks As Claimed

Be wowed!
Be amazed! Be bewildered! And be dazed!
The opening of the Olympics 2008 was formally pronounced with fireworks display last Friday at the skyline of Beijing, China. Together with it's grand opening is the exploding of the issue that some of the fireworks display are computer generated. How do you deal with this? I guess every action that the Government of China has a rationale behind it. As professed, it was done for safety precautions. They were more concerned of the safety of the helicopter and its crew that will be covering the entire event of the night. I'm glad that they have foreseen the unrealized perils of fireworks and made way to enhance the ceremony. Anyway, this ain't a minus point for me for I'm pro to safety first.

You Can't Save A Damsel If She Loves Her Distress

before the distress

Cliché , isn't it? I wonder why I find it so hard to let go of my childish attributes. I don't do it merely for attention-seeking or what but I find a temporary peace after doin' it. The worst ever temper tantrum that happened to me was last October 2007 when my brother and I had a big fight. I am only a girl and how can I fight back against my big brother? For the reason that I cannot control my emotions, what I did was I untidily trimmed down my hair and flared-up my irrational fit of crying. Haha! Imagine a 19 year old lady acting like that.

after the distress
Naaah look what I've done with my hair. If you would ask whose that girl beside me? She's Kristel and also of my same talent. We then call our hairstyle as "temper tantrum aftermath". Haha! I guess we really have the same sense of humor: corny but wild. And oh! Can I just say that maybe I'm like this because I have failed to accomplish one of my developmental tasks? Not only me by the way, haha!

Turon, You Are Being Missed

A schoolmate sent me an email just this morning about the turon story which was published at INQUIRER.net that was submitted by a former IDS student. The turon store is non-existent during my highschool years. I nosily confirmed it with my cousin since she's 9 years older than me. How sad for it's really true. I'm quite unlucky for I haven't grabbed the chance of tasting and savouring the claimed-to-be heaven's turon. By the way, for those who doesn't have an idea of what turon is: it is a banana with a slice of jack fruit in it and wrapped with a lumpia paper. It is fried on hot oil and mixed with brown sugar. This is one of the Pinoy's favorite merienda. Yum yum yum! And oh not to forget, my fave professor is mentioned too! I love it!
